Description: The Government of the State of Qatar is establishing a new world class port approximately 25 km south of Doha to cater for the current and future import-export demands of the rapidly growing Qatari economy.
The project is phased and the environmental monitoring is intended to cover excavation of the Port Basin and Qatari Emiri Forces Naval Base.
The services required to deliver the Environmental Compliance Monitoring Programme are divided into the following key tasks:
Logistical and implementation planning/design for the environmental monitoring programme

Provision and installation of monitoring equipment

Verification inspection and monitoring

Effect monitoring

Evaluation and reporting of results AMB-MORES is assisting Dar Al-Handasah to deliver the Beach Survey and provide peer review for the Study Reporting for this project.

Scope of Work

1. Beach Profiling Task


As part of the Effect monitoring program, beach profile surveys are required to assess the potential impact of the NDPP on coastal morphology. This element of the monitoring programme will involve staff surveying 80 beach profiles on a bi-annual basis using a mobile RTK-GPS system. The profiles are required to be undertaken throughout the duration of the project and for an additional 6 months following the cessation of the works. The profiles will cover up to 22km of coastline.


2. Peer Review Study Reporting


AMB-MORES will review the reports to be submitted by Dar Al-Handasah to the clients of the project. This peer review program will insure the quality of the reporting. It will reduce probability that inappropriate assumptions or methods were employed; reduce probability that laws, regulations, or professional standards may have been violated; and reduce probability of misunderstanding by the user of the work product. This will ensure a better work product.
